While all of the ladies love the cards we make, several of them refuse to send them out because they like them too much. One lady told me she has a large box full of them. I honestly can't tell you how long I have done this, maybe 4 or more years, but that's got to be about 150 cards she has accumulated. WOW! Anyway here are the 3 from September's class. I guess I was in a diecut kind of mood as they each use a different one of Close To My Heart's new Thin Cut dies. A Thin Cut is a metal die that is meant to be used in the Cuddlebug, Big Shot, Big Kick or some other die-cutting machine.CTMH is a great source for these dies and many are matched to stamps sets. Using a die-cut instead of hand cutting images is a timesaver and gives a certain amount of uniformity when making multiple cards.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: black;">This Halloween card uses the Cats & Bats Cardmaking Stamp + Thin Cuts set (Z4040.) It is easy to see the cat, but there is also a bat towards the upper left. I did cut the bat by hand but the black shadow is the die cut. The large background stamp is retired CTMH and the green Halloween paper is from my (non-CTMH) stash.</span><u><span style="color: black;"></span><br /></u></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: black;">This fall card uses one of my favorite Thin Cuts from the current Seasonal Expressions mini catalog, Leaf (Z4035.) It is 2 dies, one for the background leaf and one for the veins and outline. This card pattern was inspired by a fellow consultant. I found a 6x6 paper pad with lovely fall colors in my stash for the two big strips, the sentiment stamp, brown strip, and banner are retired CTMH.</span></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: black;"><span style="font-size: large;"> I used the Beary Christmas Cardmaking Stamp + Thin Cuts (Z4046) for this Christmas card and copied the card pattern from the Beary Christmas Workshops Your Way instructions. The patterned paper, including the green backgound paper, is from my stash, but the gold stripe is Gold Shimmer Trim (Z1985) and is a current CTMH product.</span></span></div>

<span style="color: black;"><span style="font-size: large;">I will try to get the August cards posted some time soon. I think you will like them. </span></span></div>

It was a free pattern by Just Another Button Company from 2014 that shop owners could give to customers who bought the button pack. It required a butt-load of Weeks Dye Works colors and some specialty threads besides, that I purchased in Colorado while visiting with my sister in June. My thanks to A Stitching Shop in Denver for their assistance in finding all the fibers with me. Together we made quite a mess of their Weeks Dye Works section.<br />
<br />
<br />
I have rejoined the Sampler Guild of the Rockies after dropping out for a few years. Every year they select challenge pieces and this year I have started two of them. Their fundraiser patterns are three Orphan Samplers and I will be doing one of those, but don't have the pattern yet.<br />
<br />
The first is The Winter is Past by Blackbird Designs. It needs to be finished by April, 2018. That is when Blackbird Designs will be teaching for the Guild.This workshop sold out in just days and I am grateful to my sister for getting our deposits in when she did.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
It calls for Picture This Plus 36 count Oaken linen. My LNS, Reflections, did not have this in stock but Julie did have 32 count so my piece (and my sister's) will be slightly larger. The linen is such a beautiful color and is perfect for this piece.<br />

My second start for the Guild challenge is Elizabeth Sarah Oliver 1842, a reproduction sampler charted by Plum Street Samplers. I have until September 2018 to finish the stitching on this piece. The pattern calls for 35 count Confederate Gray fabric which is on order at Reflections. But I have never been known for my patience, so I selected 40 count Pearled Barley which is a lighter version and prettier, IMHO. I find it interesting that anyone would chart a reproduction sampler with overdyed fabric and floss as it is in no way true to the original, but that did make it more comfortable to change out the called for fabric. Elizabeth stitched colorful birds on her sampler, the first one that I have stitched is green!<br /><br />JanShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08152810955807059500noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1931423692830135401.post-80719557693486649122017-09-29T13:30:00.002-05:002017-09-29T13:30:23.632-05:00Oops, forgot one.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Forgot to add this Quaker Hornbook by With My Needle to my list of finishes. But as I checked the pattern for the correct info, I realized that I mounted this piece upside down. The handle part should have been at the bottom. (Sigh) It's not going anywhere now.<br /><br />JanShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08152810955807059500noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1931423692830135401.post-60618092324571718182017-09-29T12:43:00.000-05:002017-09-29T12:45:21.996-05:00I was infected with the finishing bug a few weeks ago. Thankfully I am nearly recovered. but while under the influence I did finish up a few old and one new project.<br />
<br />
This first is a pattern from the Sampler Guild of the Rockies. I finished the stitching a couple of years ago and finally put the thing together. I really like it and it is the season to put it out on display.<br />

<br />
This is a Lone Elm Designs pattern, Ohio Sampler, that I purchased at
Heart's Desire in Wichita, Kansas during a stitchy weekend get-together
with my sister last year. The display piece came from Hobby Lobby, I
believe, and was painted and prepped by Julie at Reflections, my local
LNS. Another finish I am happy to display.<br />

(That is, in the under-the-bed box that holds my stitching complete, but not framed or finished pieces. I have heard it refered to as a 'box of shame' by others.) I had the frame and the piece was laced onto acid free foam core. All it required was the glass, spacers, dust cover and hanging wire. So I went to my favorite glass dealer, ABC Auto Glass, and had them cut me a piece. I have no idea why I put it off for so long. This piece is Treasured Friends by Darleen O'Steen.<br />

<br />
And last but not least, is the 2017 Shepherd's Bush Scissor Fob. This kit was purchased at their shop in Ogden, Utah, The beaded, ruffled ribbon finish was a bit of a challenge and I have to say that when I also finished my sister's fob, she got the benefit of my experience with mine.<br />
<br />
One of the after-effects of the finishing bug is the new start syndrome and I sure got it. I will post my new starts in the next post, so stay tuned!<br />

I am sorry I have been gone for so long. This photo showcases several interests in my life. The framed piece is paper crafted. The table runner is quilted. Both those pieces are several years old. The Uncle Sam's hat and cross-stitch pincushion are newly finished. I made 3 of these sets, one for my daughter, one for my sister, and one for me. The ensemble is called Hats Off to Uncle Sam by Blackbird Designs.<br /><br />JanShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08152810955807059500noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1931423692830135401.post-57240204318191619372015-04-18T12:24:00.000-05:002015-04-18T12:24:51.709-05:00Jackson cardThis is a card I made for our CTMH Gotta Stamp Crew unit swap. I used the new Jackson paper pack (which is a great outdoors, masculine paper set), a bulk card base, and cut images from the CTMH Cricut cartridges Artiste and Artbooking. I also used buttons and a brad from retired CTMH embellishments. I saw this card on Pinterest when I was searching for Artiste inspiration, the original creator is Karen Day https://www.pinterest.com/pin/206461964140216109/.<br />

Patterned paper 2.5 x 5 inches and 5.25 x 5.5 inches </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cricut cut bow tie - Artiste 0.80 inches, page 55, accent 3 (#M3B8BO for the Cricut Design Space)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cricut cut name badge - Artbooking, page 68, icon both non-shift and shift 2.25 inches (width) x 1.62 inches (height) (#M447AB will import both base and badge together into Design Space)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Instructions:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Name badge: Import the image into Design Space and size as indicated. Unattach the layers. Using the Hide Contour feature, hide the letters H E L L O. Then, using a text box, replace them with the letters H A P P Y. I used the Art Philosophy font, but you could use your favorite. Size the text box to fit on the badge layer and ATTACH them. If you are not working with Design Space, you can do the same thing in the Cricut Craft Room. I then used the Artbooking font in another text box and the WRITE function to print 'birthday' on the badge base. Again, size to fit and attach. (I LOVE the write function on the Explore, especially since I have acquired pens that work well) You could use an appropriately sized stamp if not using the Explore.) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Fold the smaller piece of patterned paper in half lengthwise and adhere Fold the top edge back from the non folded corner to 1 7/8 inches from the bottom. Do not completely flatten the fold. Adhere the folded section. Trim off the part that sticks out. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Fold back 1.75 inches lengthwise on the larger piece and adhere. Fold this piece from the inside corner of the fold to 2 inches from the bottom. Do not completely flatten the fold. Adhere it just at the corner. Adhere the smaller piece to the left side of the card base, then adhere the larger piece, matching it to the right side of the base. There should be about a 1/2 inch overlap.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Assemble the bow tie and name badge and adhere them and the buttons.</div>

I will post the third project next month. The first is a birthday card. I colored the stamped image with a combination of Copic and CTMH's Shin Han alcohol markers. I love how you can deepen the colors by using multiple layers of the same color. And since these are alcohol markers the paper doesn't get wet and 'pill,' no matter how many times you color over the same spot. The stamp set is D1597 Hoppy Birthday. While it is not in the current Annual Inspirations catalog, it is still available.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This second card uses an old CTMH paper pack when the B&T paper was lighter weight with the reverse side being a monochromatic copy of the primary side. The center paper of this card looks like it is embossed but it is not. But that does give me an idea for my unit swap card! Anyway the stamps for the tag and cute little evergreen branches are from the Yuletide Carol WOTG G1084. This Workshop on the Go has great layouts for Christmas scrapping.</div>

I won't post the cards for my class until after the event in late September but I did want to share this month's cards from my class with my lovely lady friends at the assisted living facility. This month we added a few new faces and I think they had a good time.<br />

<br />
I especially like the one with the little ice cream cone (from CTMH's new petite perks stamp set - ask me how you can get one.) It shows how even a single small stamp can be a big part of your project.<br />
<br />
In September, we will get started on our Christmas cards. CTMH has so many great new Christmas stamps and paper that I can hardly wait!<br />

I have worked on Rocky Mountain Christmas, the Mary Smithies repro sampler, and Winter Garden Gate, and my Angel of Healing. My Angel now has both wings and her face (which is stitched over one) doesn't look quite so scary. My current stitching project is the Berlin Wool Work Sampler.<br />
<br />
Here are some photos showing my progress. I will post the BWWS progress when I move on to the next UFO since I plan on stitching one small floral and one LARGE floral motif before moving on.<br />

I really have to make myself stitch, although I love it, because I try to spend my creative time playing with paper. But the activity on one of the cross stitch groups I belong to has picked up lately and they have requested that I post pictures of my work-in-progress stitching projects. And I think they will be sorry they asked. I took these pictures a couple of months ago, since then I have actually completed one project so got to delete the photo.<br />
<br />
This is a reproduction sampler Hannah Prescott. I actually have a bit more done since the photo was taken.<br />

I think this one is called Winter Garden Gate by Moss Creek Designs, Rae Iverson. I'm pretty sure this was another festival class. I also have the Summer Garden Gate kit but haven't started that and the date on that one is 1998.<br />

This is the beginning of the huswife from Sampler and Antique Needlework, vol 2. Again, I can't put my fingers on the book, but it is somewhere in my stitching room. Hey, I had to move the ENTIRE room downstairs and then back upstairs in the last 10 years, so I am never quite sure where things are. But I know it is somewhere and if I want to work on this sometime, I will just have to look<br />
.<br />

This project was another class. More needlepoint than cross-stitch. When done, it finished up into a wooden spool which is really quite neat. I really intended to substitute a sampler for this, so probably will never finish this one.</div>

This is the Mary Smithies reproduction sampler from R&R Reproductions. This was a class from 2001 at Liberty Gathering in Liberty, Missouri. (That was a fun festival with all sorts of crafts - I took cross-stitch, quilting, even painting classes - taught by the husband of Chessie & Me cross-stitch designer.) It is a Mormon sampler stitched by Mary while traveling to Utah. I have quite a bit more done on this than shown. It always causes comments when I take it to Saturday Stitch when I go as there as every tenth linen thread has to be removed and replaced with a blue linen thread to simulate the learning linen that was used at that time.<br />

This is Stitch Little Darling Sewing Basket by Merry Cox. I have about 1 1/2 sides of 4 done, then have the bottom inside of the basket to stitch before I can finish the thing, so still lots of work.<br />

I think that they will be lovely pages, I will just need to find the right pictures. I also cut the straight pieces (non-Cricut) for the Ivy Lane card Workshop. Two days ago I started and finished a double layout and last week I started and finished another double layout. Why am I so prolific? Because next week I get to see a brand spanking new ANNUAL catalog from Close to My Heart. NINE new paper kits, a new Cricut cartridge and LOTS more brand new stuff. I am so excited to be in the first group to see what is in store for the upcoming year!<br />
<br />
Here are the two double layouts that are finished. The first will be going to the Mom of the baby boy I did some daycare for while she started back to work. I remember those days of leaving baby - surely no one could care for him the way I could. So I was happy to have George for a few hours a day while she eased back into the real world of full time work. After a month with me, she was ready to put him into a regular Daycare (or maybe she was afraid I wouldn't give him back! I used the paper kit "Babyckaes." <br />

The second is of my grand-daughter Salem's trip to the zoo with her Daddy. I "see" her vicariously through my son's Facebook posting of her pictures. These pics were particularly nice ones and did well in the layout. The paper pack for this one was "Free to be Me", the May special.<br />

Close to my Heart has 5 new embossing folders that I LOVE playing with. I used two different ones on the cards for my assisted living group - the chevron Z1925 and quatrafoil Z1926, each $8.95. They all emboss a 5x7 area and have a slit on the folded edge so you can emboss up to a 4 x 12 inch long strip. FUN! The top card utilizes the Cricut to cut out the three flowers .</div>

<br />
This card is so unique. The sentiment tag is stamped with four different phrases (Get Well, Happy Birthday, Congratulations, and Just Because) and my ladies got to pick whichever fit their need. This card was based on a card posted on Pinterest (whatever would I do without all that inspiration?) by LeAnne Pugliese.<span style="font-family: inherit;"> </span><br />

A new year has started for my ladies. No more Christmas cards (for a while anyway.) More bright colors, flowers, hearts and bows, in hopes of an early spring! I used the CTMH Artiste Cricut cartridge for my favorite bow, and the cotton candy dots Washi tape (retired) for two of the cards and the patterns were inspired for the most part from Pinterest and blog postings, in other words, I CASE'd them. There are so many very talented card creators out there!</div>

I really like how you can take a single image and cut each layer out to make a 3D shape. I have in the way past purchased wood and rubber stamps with that in mind but have never actually made any until now. This is such a sparkly and shiny ornament, thanks to clear embossing powder, sparkles and Glitz Glitter gel in red and silver. Unfortunately both the embossing powder and Glitter Gel are retiring from the CTMH line January 31st. The clear embossing powder is already sold out. I am seriously hoping it will return in different packaging in the new Idea Book.<div>

Supplies:</div>
<div>
B1424 Classy Doily stamp set</div>
<div>
X7176B Sparkle & Shine Paper Packet</div>
<div>
Black Pigment Ink (included in the Basic mini pigment pad set Z2503)</div>
<div>
Juniper and Ruby cardstock</div>
<div>
Z1484 Red Glitz Glitter gel</div>
<div>
Z1482 Silver Glitz Glitter gel</div>
<div>
Z1263 Bitty Sparkles</div>
<div>
a misc. red sparkle and lots of 3-D foam tape</div>
<div>
<br />The two largest layers are from a coordinating cut on the Artiste Cricut cartridge, Z1790, the rest of the layers were cut using our Micro-Tip Scissors, which sadly are also retiring (but the Non-Stick version will continue.)</div>

For some reason, I was feeling especially creative and my ideas turned very nicely into some really cute projects.<br />
<br />
It is a little difficult to see but I used the hexagonal stitch pattern from our new Stitch Guide Z1852 to make a double row of holes around a Cricut-cut hexagon on this first 3x3 card. Another consultant had said that this size card works well as a little lunchbox 'love' so I kept this in mind for this project. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This next one uses what is called a Joy-Luck pattern but in a miniature size. The Sparkle in the corner keeps the first flap from opening until you want to see the rest of the card.</div>

One of the centerpieces for my display will be this wonderful Advent Calendar. If is made using our Designed Decor Black Frame which has five wires strung across the opening of a lovely black wooden frame. A similar Advent Calendar is in the artwork in CTMH's Holidays from the Heart Gift Guide, a limited time mini catalog featuring a new paper pack, Sparkle & Shine and new Christmas stamps sets as well as other new products. I knew that I wanted to recreate one for myself and to show others. I still want to upscale the embellishment on the title banner but for now it is done. I plan on letting each customer at the crop select one of the little fry boxes, and awarding a prize based on the number as well as the Hershey Miniature candy bar that will be in each box. This project made quite a hit at our GottaStamp unit meeting with several people trying to claim it as their own. It came back home with ME, though.<br />

As I promised a few days ago, here are the October projects for my Assisted Living group. Well, sort of. I did not use CTMH patterned paper for my ladies but I did recreate the cards in retired CTMH paper to share at my CTMH GottaStamp Crew unit meeting. These are the CTMH versions.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This first one uses paper from the Wonderland kit. The cute deer is from the retired Santa's List D1383, but the fancy swirl is available now - Swirls Around D1551.</div>

This Autumn card uses our cardstock in Barn Red, Honey, and Goldrush, along with a bit of the retired paper packet, Dreaming, to really make that scalloped border show. And of course, the scallop was done with our new scallop punch Z1851.</div>

The highlight of the class was this adorable Witch's Hat mobile. My ladies made it with a white ghost, but the ghost is from a non-CTMH Cricut cartridge so I changed it up to a black cat and changed the spider to purple to keep it all to CTMH cartridges. I used Art Philosophy, Artiste and Artbooking - all three of our cartridges. Every one of my ladies really liked how it turned out and I helped a couple of them pick a nice spot to display it near their doors.</div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Welcome to week 4, the last week of Artbooking in August. Not only does that mean our blog hop is drawing to a close, but the month of August is just about gone, too. It is almost trite to say it, but where has the time flown? </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Last week there were a lot of examples using the Halloween mini-album, including mine. Here is another simple use for those Halloween pages. I cut the desired page at 3 inches and used my Cropodile to enlarge the holes. Some simple embellishments and they were ready to be slipped on some sweet treats. I used a bit of Scotch tape to secure them. </span></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Welcome to week 3 of the Artbooking in August blog hop. Whew, we have had a lot of wonderful, inspiring projects in the past 2 weeks and this week is just adding to the inspiration. I hope you have enjoyed everything you have seen so far. And we still have one more week to go. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you have come from <span style="background-color: yellow;"> <a href="http://lisalynn00.blogspot.com/">Lisa's blog</a>,</span> you are on the right track. If you get lost on the way around the hop check <a href="http://www.adeline-brill.blogspot.com/2013/08/artbooking-in-august-blog-hop-list.html" style="background-color: cyan;">Adeline's blog</a> for the complete listing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My contribution for this week is a mini-album.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh66/photosMotherG/DSC02304_zps2db72116.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh66/photosMotherG/DSC02304_zps2db72116.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wait a dog-gone minute, you are saying, there isn't any oval album in Artbooking! You are right! This album shape is actually from the round Halloween mini-book on page 54 (Photo Mat 1), altered with the use of the Cricut Craft Room. The album is sized to fit a standard A2 envelope (4.25x5.5) but I haven't tried to stuff it in one yet. It is probably too thick, but my intention was to make it mailable, so I intentionally kept to flat embellishments. The foam tape under the word 'family' and the sparkles on the cover are the only place I went 3-D.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have had the Cricut Design Studio for a very long time and have done a lot with it, reshaping, welding, and combining images to make my own designs. But ProvoCraft (the people that make the Cricut) have decided not to support this rather old software any longer. In fact my new Expression 2 machine doesn't even recognize it. So I have begun to explore the CricutCraft Room (CCR.) This is my first project using it and it was quite easy. The flower cut and the word 'family' are predesigned images straight from cartridge, sized to fit my album. I cut the flower 4 times, and cut and pieced them together. I added Glitter paper from the green (Z1847) and brown packs (Z1830) in the cutout areas and some Sparkles from the Brown and Tan Assortment (Z1753.) Everything is outlined using our Exclusive Inks alcohol based markers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh66/photosMotherG/DSC02299_zps476e86e8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh66/photosMotherG/DSC02299_zps476e86e8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think I am going to like using the various fancy frames in Artbooking. I resized 2 of them to fit my little album. The journaling lines on the right hand page use the notebook paper stamp from the stamp sets that come in the Artbooking package. I covered the vertical line that makes it look like notebook paper with flowers from the Artiste cartridge..</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh66/photosMotherG/DSC02300_zpsad0e257a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh66/photosMotherG/DSC02300_zpsad0e257a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The paisley stamp is from Paisley Perfect C1556. The Sunset frame for the paisleys is from the Artiste cartridge (Z1790) - page 43 (shift,<accent 4=""> 1.75 inches)</accent></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh66/photosMotherG/DSC02301_zpsbe2a21c0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh66/photosMotherG/DSC02301_zpsbe2a21c0.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hid the inner most cuts from this doily image (one of the functions in the CCR) to turn it into more of a frame.This journaling spot is from the Artbooking stamp sets.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh66/photosMotherG/DSC02302_zps02efcb85.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh66/photosMotherG/DSC02302_zps02efcb85.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Each page in this little album was cut from Colonial White Cardstock, then cut again from the Babycakes B&T so each page is comprised of 2 B&T layers and one cardstock layer making it a very sturdy book. The ribbon is retired CTMH.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now hop on over to <a href="http://heatherjanedesign.blogspot.com/" style="background-color: yellow;"><span style="font-size: large;">Heather's blog</span></a> to continue on your adventure. And be sure to come back next week for an easy project that I think will be very useful for a lot of us.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Welcome to the Artbooking in August blog hop. If you have come from Lisa's blog<br />
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="border-collapse: collapse; width: 620px;"><tbody>
<tr height="20" style="height: 15pt;"><td class="xl65" height="20" style="height: 15pt; width: 465pt;" width="620"><span style="color: blue; font-family: Calibri;"><a href="http://lisalynn00.blogspot.com/">http://lisalynn00.blogspot.com</a></span>, you are on the right path.<br />

<tr height="20" style="height: 15pt;"><td class="xl65" height="20" style="height: 15pt; width: 465pt;" width="620"><br />
<br />
My contribution to today's hop is a card using the 4x6 frame on page 87 of<br />
the Artbooking booklet. I used real-dial size to shrink it a bit to fit a standard<br />
A-2 card. After adhering it to a piece of White Daisy cardstock, I trimmed<br />
the White Daisy to just the size of the frame. Since the Artbooking cartridge<br />
has been added to the Cricut Craft Room, now I can just 'hide' the inner cuts<br />
and let the Cricut do the cutting work for me. My card base is from my Spring<br />
/Summer 2013 display board showing a sample of one sheet of the For Always<br />
paper kit 7165B, still available in the new Autumn/Winter 2013 Idea Book.<br />
The cute stamped image of a penguin is from the Hostess Rewards stamp set<br />
C1560 Wintry Wishes. A bit of (retired) Cranberry ribbon and a couple of<br />
black sparkles from the Black & Grey Assortment Z1754 and this card<br />
is ready to announce it's 'Warm Winter Wishes' to a special recipient in a few<br />
months.<br />

There will be 40 consultants showing their artwork using the brand new Cricut cartridge. We will each feature a card, a double scrapbook layout, a mini-album and one other project. The specific project that we feature on a particular Monday will be up to us. I have my card, my layout, and my mini-album done. Only one more project to go. Here is a sneak peak at my mini-album (hint - it features the Babycakes paper kit.)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh66/photosMotherG/DSC02284_zps9c716cb6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh66/photosMotherG/DSC02284_zps9c716cb6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of the new things I learned this week was how to use the Cricut Craft Room. I have been a long time user of the Cricut Design Studio software so re-sizing Cricut images, welding images together, and using different images together to make new shapes is nothing new to me. The CCR is pretty much the same thing except that your Cricut machine has to be connected to the computer AND the cmputer has to be connected to the internet the whole time. Thank goodness that I finally made the time to hook up my new router! Now all 3 computers in this house can get online. Anyway this album makes extensive use of the CCR to reshape Artbooking images. It also uses the CTMH Artiste and Art Philosophy cartridges.</div>

I finally sat down and made myself use it all up. Let me clarify here that only the patterned B&T counts (you get 2 each of 3 double sided designs in a kit.) Usually you have to ADD more cardstock but any scraps of cardstock left are just put away. Here are the cards I was able to make.<br />

I see that one picture should have been rotated, you will just have to lean sideways to look at it! The happy birthday stamp shown in the last picture is from the new Autumn/Winter 2013 Idea Book and will be available to order on August 1st. It is one of 8 new "M" sized mini stamps and each one sells for only $2.95. That wonderful framed font set will also be available in a full "E" sized upper AND lower case alphabet set for just $29.95. Our new "E" sized sets now come on two 6x6 carrier sheets and fit in the same size storage envelope as most of our other sets. The mini's come in cute little 3x3 storage envelopes.</div>
<br />
I must say it is a very hard thing to use up all of a pack. Since our double sided B&T is heavy enough to support photos and embellishments, it helped that one set of the Corporate designed layouts used them. 2 sheets out of 6 used right there. With everything else I made, I only had 3 tiny pieces left that put together may have equaled one square inch. Normally I save EVERY little piece but I was comfortable throwing these last pieces away since it meant that this paper kit was GONE. One down and I'm too overwhelmed to count how many are left, and a bit embarrassed, as well. Sigh.JanShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08152810955807059500noreply@blogger.com0
